Poker Hands 2

A flush is any 5 cards regardless of numerical value, with the condition that they are all from the same suite. A straight is the opposite of the flush, and it refers to 5 cards, regardless of what suite but which are in sequential numerical order. Because a straight is calculated according to the numerical value, then the value of each card matters, the royal deck will count highest, whilst Ace through to 5 will count as the lowest hand. All other combinations in between will be examined and compared against one another to decide the winner, and the lowest possible combination (the Ace through to 5 is known as the “wheeler.”) 3 of a kind is the same as its 4 card counterpart, and it is the higher of the 3 cards that will be held the winner. Like the 4 of a kind, the remaining 2 cards are also kickers and are used to determine the winner in the event of a draw between players, and 3 of a kind is given the name “trips”.

Another self-explanatory card combination , one that is readily understandable is the 2 pair hand, the top pair of cards is used to determine the winner, if there is a draw between players then reference is made to the bottom pair of cards to determine the winner. In the somewhat unlikely event that there is a tie between the bottom pair of cards as well, then the kicker (remember? The 5th card) will be used to decide the final winner. The pair (for easiness lets call it 1 pair hand) is exactly the same rules and provisions for its double paired friend. The final “hand” so to speak, is more of a default, in the event of a players hand not fitting neatly within ANY of the poker hands already discussed then the highest card within the current hand is used to decide the winner.
