Players position
Poker is a game governed and influenced by a wide number of factors, all of them highly important, and one such factor that players both seasoned and novice tend to widely overlook is their position during the course of a poker game. Position in the context of texas hold em simply refers to a players position relative to the dealer, moving in a clockwise (from left to right) fashion. One of the key ways in which the position of a player comes in handy is that you will be able to more closely observe and analyse the reactions of your fellow players, and be able to make an educated guess as to their relative skill, as well as how likely they are to fold, to call, to raise etc. This kind of intelligence is gold dust especially in tournaments, though in any game of texas hold em, it serves a vital function indeed. Each of the various positions are given their own distinct term, “being under the gun” is the worst possible position for any player, and this is the very first person who makes their move, its drawbacks are based on the point outlined above. There is a slight cold comfort for under the gun players, and that is that they have a marginally stronger position in the context of post-flop deals than the other players. The flop of a texas hold em game is when 3 cards which are available for use by all of the players in the game, these cards are known as community cards. Small blind is the player directly to the dealers left, big blind is the person to the left of the small blind, or two left from the dealers position. The cut off is the player directly to the right of the dealer.
